5A Region II District 12 recap Oct. 23, 2012

Horn scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Longview, 25-17. At the time, the Lobos were ranked 20th in the state, while the Jaguars were 51st.

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Longview, who took down 20th ranked Longview, 25-17. Destri White threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 109 yards in the win.

Brian O'Bannon was the best wideout in 5A Region II District 12 this week as Horn topped John King's team. O'Bannon racked up three receptions for 141 yards. Jarrison Stewart helped Horn's passing attack out by catching five balls for 39 yards.

Chris Warren was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 23 carries, he ran for 184 yards as Rockwall beat the Lobos. Teammate Zach Berryman added to the ground attack by rushing for 100 yards.

Mesquite's Alex Cooper and Rashard Higgins have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Cooper has thrown for 2071 yards this season, while Higgins has 43 catches for 810 yards. Warren from the Yellowjackets leads the league in rushing with 943 yards.

A big matchup in 5A Region II District 12 this week will be when Rockwall-Heath takes on the Jaguars. The Hawks are in third place, while Horn is in second place.

The Jaguars were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. Horn defeated Longview 25-17 earlier in the week.
