Softball Recap: Mary Star of the Sea's Win Ends Seven-Game Losing Streak at Home

There's no place like home for Mary Star of the Sea, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Serra Cavaliers on Tuesday. That looming 15-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Stars yet this season.

Kaidence Sandoval and Trinity Martinez made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Sandoval tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Martinez struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Sandoval has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Sandoval got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Martinez got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI Martinez has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Amaree Arellano was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maris Reyes, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Mary Star of the Sea always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .765. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mary Star of the Sea's victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-9. As for Serra, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-11.
