Softball Game Preview: Forest Hills Rangers vs. Bishop McCort Crushers

The Forest Hills Rangers will square off against the Bishop McCort Crushers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Forest Hills is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

On Monday, Forest Hills beat Greater Latrobe 11-6.

Avery Smiach was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Forest Hills got a massive performance out of Morgan Gdula, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Taylor Snyder, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Forest Hills hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive contests.

Bishop McCort played against Bishop Guilfoyle on Friday and won via forfeit.

Forest Hills pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop McCort, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Forest Hills took their victory against Bishop McCort when the teams last played back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 14-1 score. Will the Rangers repeat their success, or do the Crushers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
