Basketball Recap: Booker Tornadoes vs. IMG Academy Blue Ascenders
The Booker Tornadoes entered their tilt with the IMG Academy Blue Ascenders with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Booker walked away with a 65-54 victory over the Ascenders on Wednesday. Given Booker's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Ascenders are ranked 289th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Booker was led to victory by Jsiyah Taylor and Jakai Peterson. Taylor scored 18 points, while Peterson scored 24 points. Peterson is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Yvette Brown, who scored nine points.
Booker's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-9. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for IMG Academy Blue, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.
Booker will head out on the road to face off against the Seminoles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Southeast is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. IMG Academy Blue does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
