Softball Game Preview: San Luis Sidewinders vs. Cibola Raiders

San Luis hasn't had much luck against Cibola recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The San Luis Sidewinders will head out on the road to face off against the Cibola Raiders at 3:45 p.m. San Luis will be strutting in after a victory while Cibola will be coming in after a loss.

If San Luis beats Cibola with 18 runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Everything went San Luis' way against Yuma on Wednesday as San Luis made off with an 18-2 win. Considering the Sidewinders have won three contests by more than 11 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Cibola's offense. They came up short against Highland on Friday, falling 9-0.

Cibola saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Kasid, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Kasid's first of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for San Luis and bumps their season record up to 3-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 17 runs. As for Cibola, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

San Luis suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Cibola when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can San Luis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
