Basketball Game Preview: Jay Mustangs vs. MacArthur Brahmas

The Jay Mustangs will head out to face off against the MacArthur Brahmas at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Jay will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Wednesday, Jay strolled past South San Antonio with points to spare, taking the game 45-27. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while the Bobcats are ranked 548th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, MacArthur was fully in charge on Wednesday, breezing past Southwest 63-25. The Brahmas have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 19 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Jay pushed their record up to 22-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for MacArthur, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season.

Jay won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, slipping by MacArthur 46-45. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was MacArthur's Ellie Lee, who went 8 of 15 en route to 23 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Jay still be able to contain Lee? There's only one way to find out.
