It was a good run, but Kennedy unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-match winning streak on Thursday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Payton College Prep Grizzlies. If the Crusaders were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to the Grizzlies when the teams met back in September of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Kennedy's defeat dropped their record down to 18-6-1. As for Payton College Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season.

Kennedy and Payton College Prep should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Crusaders (ranked 258th) will meet Solorio (ranked 564th) at 7:00 p.m. on the 28th. Meanwhile, Payton College Prep will take on Kenwood at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (116 vs. 297).
