Baseball Recap: St. Joseph Academy Comes Up Short

St. Joseph Academy had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 6-9 to make it four. They lost 21-3 to the Tri-City Christian Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-4 back in March.

St. Joseph Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joshua Clow, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one RBI.

As for Tri-City Christian, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

On Tri-City Christian's side, Preston Chang was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Chang has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, Elijah Holman was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Cruz Valdivia was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

St. Joseph Academy has already played their next matchup (against Guajome Park Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Tri-City Christian also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Army-Navy.
