Basketball Recap: Dinwiddie Comes Up Short

Dinwiddie managed to keep up with Matoaca until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Dinwiddie Generals were outmatched by the Matoaca Warriors and fell 63-32. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Generals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-35 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Dinwiddie lost, don't look at Madisyn Hurtt. Despite the final result, she posted 21 points.

Leading Matoaca to victory were Sydney Richardson and Kailah Carter. Richardson almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine boards, while Carter went 8 for 15 en route to 18 points and five rebounds. The game was Carter's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kendra Carter, who earned nine points.

This is the second loss in a row for Dinwiddie and nudges their season record down to 5-9. As for Matoaca, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Dinwiddie wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-50 victory against Clover Hill on the 27th. Matoaca has also already played their next matchup, a 69-45 loss against Hanover on the 27th.
