Basketball Game Preview: Atkins Red Devils vs. Dover Pirates

The Atkins Red Devils will take on the Dover Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Atkins has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with five straight defeats, while Dover will come in with three straight wins.

Atkins is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest loss since February 5, 2024 on Tuesday. They came up short against Mayflower, falling 74-48. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while the Eagles are ranked 93rd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dover). They claimed a resounding 80-52 victory over Baptist Prep.

Dover's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Atkins, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Atkins was able to grind out a solid victory over Dover when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 61-51. Does Atkins have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dover turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
