Meanwhile, Bellaire entered their tilt with Cesar E. Chavez on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Lobos with a sharp 3-0 victory.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Bellaire took every set by at least 12 points. The final score came out to 25-8, 25-6, 25-13.
Bellaire found their leader in underclassman Allison Barker, who had eight aces and three digs. With that strong performance, Barker is now averaging an impressive 2.2 aces per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Caitrin Tan, who had three digs and two aces.
Bellaire couldn't miss and finished the game having scored on 43.8% of their attack attempts. That's a new trend for them: their average hitting percentage was 14.9% earlier this season, but in their last five matches they've averaged 42.1%.
