Clark French was his usual excellent self, rushing for 171 yards and four touchdowns on only eight carries. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 149 rushing yards. Zane Catlin was another key player, gaining 102 total yards and three touchdowns.
Sullivan didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited South Vermillion to a completion percentage of just 32%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Paul Ridgway and Ethan Garrett, who each logged one passes deflected. Sullivan has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.6 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.6 in their last three games.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Sullivan, racking up 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Wyatt Epling, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for North Posey, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past Pike Central, posting a 50-6 victory. The Vikings' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
North Posey's win came from a few key players Sullivan will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Bret Buecher, who rushed for 150 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 carries. Another player making a difference was Carter Schickel, who threw for 240 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.
North Posey's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Sullivan, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 7-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Sullivan has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 221.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like North Posey struggles in that department as they've been averaging 153.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
