Sparkman hasn't had much luck against Florence recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Senators are taking a road trip to face off against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Sparkman not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since October 18, 2024 (when they won 48-10). They were the clear victors by a 40-14 margin over Grissom. Given the Senators' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Tigers are ranked 215th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Joshua Naylon, who threw for 270 yards and four TDs while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt. Chad Reynolds was Naylon's top target, picking up 107 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Florence entered their tilt with Huntsville on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They strolled past the Panthers with points to spare, taking the game 45-29. The Falcons' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Sparkman better keep an eye on Carson Johnson. He was instrumental in Florence's win, rushing for 159 yards and two scores, while also picking up 38 receiving yards and one TD.
Sparkman's record is now 4-5. As for Florence, their record now sits at 5-3.
Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Sparkman has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 201.4 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Florence, though, as they've been averaging only 52.5 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Sparkman came up short against Florence when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 13-2. Can the Senators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
