League recap: Potter-Dix climbs in standings with win

D2 District 10 (8 Man) recap Sept. 26, 2012

Potter-Dix was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in D2 District 10 (8 Man). The Coyotes beat Banner County 65-24 earlier in the week.

Potter-Dix took down the Wildcats 65-24 last week, the largest margin of any game. Luke Johnson threw for 313 yards and six touchdowns in the win.

Brady Knigge was the best wideout in the league this week as Joe Martin/Dale Frerichs's team bested Banner County. Knigge racked up three receptions for 127 yards. Jake Johnson helped Potter-Dix's passing attack out by catching two balls for 113 yards.

Sam Schumacher was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 13 carries, he ran for 146 yards as Leyton defeated Kenny Hessler's team. Jared Westman also contributed to the rushing game with 48 yards on the ground.

Potter-Dix's Johnson and Knigge have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading D2 District 10 (8 Man) in both passing and receiving yards. Johnson has thrown for 1085 yards this season, while Knigge, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 23 catches for 520 yards. Schumacher from the Warriors leads the league in rushing with 500 yards.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Leyton takes on the Wildcats. Glen Lipska's team's offense has racked up 233 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Banner County has allowed only 204 on the year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Coyotes take on Crawford. As it stands, Potter-Dix is in first, while the Rams are in fourth.

The Coyotes led the league in scoring this week after putting up 65 points on the Wildcats. Johnson in the win.
