Softball Game Preview: Frankfort Panthers vs. Garrard County Golden Lions

The Frankfort Panthers will face off against the Garrard County Golden Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Frankfort has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Frankfort lost 22-3 to Franklin County on Thursday.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Garrard County and Somerset, and Garrard County kept the tradition alive. Garrard County had just enough and edged out Somerset 5-4. While the Golden Lions didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Emily Hounshell made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Jazlynn Shelton was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Zoe Jordon was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Garrard County's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Frankfort, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3.
