Football Recap: Maclay Marauders vs. Valwood Valiants
On Friday Maclay's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 35-34 W against the Valwood Valiants. The Marauders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Valiants, too.

Maclay's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Beau Beshears led the charge by throwing for 331 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushing for 60 yards. A healthy portion of Beshears' aerial production (116 yards to be exact) went to Henry Richardson, who also brought in three receiving touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Maclay's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Holt Antohi and Abram Wildrick, who each picked up one sack apiece. Antohi was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Valwood lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Tayt Snellgrove, who rushed for 97 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 111 yards and one touchdown. Another rusher making a difference was Kamari Jackson, who rushed for 87 yards and a pair of scores.
Maclay's record now sits at 4-0. As for Valwood, their record is now 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maclay will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against FAMU DRS at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Valwood, they will take on North Florida Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
