Frederick Douglass is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: Madison Central, who was ranked 18th at the time (Frederick Douglass was ranked 21st). The Broncos came out on top in a nail-biter against the Indians on Monday, sneaking past 7-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Broncos.
Haley McGuire made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Armani Happy, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kavery Myrick, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Frederick Douglass was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Madison Central only posted a batting average of .240.
Meanwhile, Franklin County got the win against Henry Clay on Wednesday by a conclusive 11-1. The Flyers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by eight runs or more this season.
Carlie Olds was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. K McGowan was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.
Franklin County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Frederick Douglass, their win bumped their record up to 7-4-1.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Frederick Douglass hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Franklin County struggles in that department as they've averaged .363. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
