Baseball Game Preview: Valley Rams vs. Smiths Station Panthers

The Valley Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Smiths Station Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Valley managed to slip by Benjamin Russell the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Rams came up short against the Wildcats on Thursday, falling 11-1. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Rams, who until this game were averaging 3.6 runs allowed.

Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kade Riley, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, while Smiths Station put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Lee-Scott Academy. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the Warriors.

This is the second loss in a row for Valley and nudges their season record down to 12-7-1. As for Smiths Station, their win bumped their record up to 10-17.

Valley suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Smiths Station in their previous matchup back in February of 2021. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
