Countryside had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Dunedin Falcons, sneaking past 16-13. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 21-17 victory the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

The critical scores for Countryside came from Korontae Moore and Gavin Hughes.

Countryside didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Dunedin to a completion percentage of just 36.8%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: DJ Penny and Nick Simmons-Gillespie, who each logged one passes deflected. Countryside wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 59.1%.

Countryside's defense also made the game a nightmare for Ben Tifer., racking up seven sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as seven different players picked up one apiece. Countryside received some extra help from Moore, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Looking ahead, Countryside will face off against Gibbs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Dunedin, they will square off against Osceola at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
