Football Recap: Summit Academy Bears vs. South Sevier Rams
With a playoff game on the line, Summit Academy rose to the challenge on Friday. They strolled past the South Sevier Rams with points to spare, taking the game 42-28. That's more bragging rights for the Bears, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Liam Larson was a one-man wrecking crew for Summit Academy as he rushed for 233 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. Larson's longest rush was for an incredible 94 yards. Kyle Lively was another key receiver, gaining 179 total yards and two touchdowns.
Summit Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Alexander Meredith and Talin Hill. Meredith also made five total tackles, which is notable because Summit Academy is undefeated when he posts at least four total tackles, but 3-5 otherwise. Tug Wilbur was another major factor on D, picking up 3.5 sacks, forcing a fumble, and making eight total tackles (4.0 for loss).
Summit Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 392 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.
Although South Sevier took the loss, they still got scores from Chase Spackman, Slade Summerhays, Jaggar Redd, and Boston Palmer.
Summit Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.5 points per game. As for South Sevier, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Summit Academy has already played their next contest, a 31-20 loss against Emery on the 9th. South Sevier does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
