Softball Recap: Twin Springs Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Twin Springs had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Thomas Walker on Friday. The Titans put the hurt on the Pioneers with a sharp 10-0 victory. Considering the Titans have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma Ross and Makenzie Gillenwater were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Ross struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Gillenwater tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. At the plate, Ross went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Gillenwater went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Aubrey Meade was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jayde Tomlinson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one triple.

The win was the seventh in a row for Twin Springs, bringing their record up to 13-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Thomas Walker, their loss was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-12.

Coincidentally, Twin Springs and Thomas Walker will both be playing Eastside the next time they take the field. The Titans will head out to face the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Pioneers will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
