Basketball Game Preview: Flatonia Bulldogs vs. Shiner Comanches

Flatonia is on a 13-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Shiner is on a 13-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Flatonia Bulldogs will host the Shiner Comanches at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Flatonia is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Bloomington: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Flatonia blew Bloomington out of the water with a 73-7 final score. With the Bulldogs ahead 50-4 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shiner). They blew past Bloomington 75-11 on Tuesday. Given the Comanches' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 566th, while the Bobcats/Lady Cats are ranked 1487th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Shiner is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 16-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.1 points per game. As for Flatonia, their win bumped their record up to 21-4.

Everything came up roses for Flatonia against Shiner in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 53-26 victory. Will Flatonia repeat their success, or does Shiner have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
