Baseball Recap: Deep Creek Takes a Loss

Deep Creek extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-11. They came up short against the Great Bridge Wildcats, falling 10-0. That's two games in a row now that the Hornets have lost by exactly ten runs.

As for Great Bridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Considering they have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Great Bridge's part, Casey Cuddyer was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Cuddyer has posted since back in April of 2025. Logan Gillespie was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deep Creek will host Atlantic Shores Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Great Bridge, they will take on Oscar Smith at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.31 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
