Football Game Preview: Springboro Panthers vs. Springfield Wildcats

Springboro hasn't had much luck against Springfield recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Springboro will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

Last Friday, Springboro took their game with ease, bagging a 35-7 win over Miamisburg. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won three contests by 28 points or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Springfield walked away with it. They took down the Monarchs 21-3 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Wildcats' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Monarchs are ranked 202nd).

Springfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.4 points over those games. As for Springboro, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

Springboro couldn't quite get it done against Springfield in their previous meeting back in September as they fell 14-7. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
