Basketball Recap: Cuyahoga Heights Takes a Loss

Cuyahoga Heights played a tough match on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 59-16 defeat at the hands of the Chagrin Falls Tigers. The Red Wolves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-13.

Chagrin Falls found their leader in sophomore Avery Russell, who shot 4-for-6 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Russell a new career-high in assists (five). Lilly Stukus was another key player, going 6 for 13 on her way to 17 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Cuyahoga Heights and nudges their season record down to 4-6. As for Chagrin Falls, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Cuyahoga Heights will face off against Trinity at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Trinity is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.2 points per game this season. As for Chagrin Falls, they will challenge Riverside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chagrin Falls also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 55.3 points per game.
