Basketball Recap: Minden Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Minden had won six straight games and Myla Emery did her part to make it seven on Friday. The Minden Whippets managed a 46-40 win over the Superior Wildcats thanks in part to Emery, who posted 17 points and five rebounds. She has been hot, having posted 16 or more points the last seven times she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Makenna Betty, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. That's the most points she has posted since back in November of 2023.

Despite the loss, Superior saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Reagan Meyers dropped a triple-double on 18 points, 12 rebounds, and ten blocks. Those ten blocks set a new season-high mark for Meyers. Another player making a difference was Sadie Cornell, who earned 15 points and four steals.

Minden's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Superior, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Minden wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-29 win against Grand Island Central Catholic on the 28th. As for Superior, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-23 victory against St. Patrick's on the 28th.
