Basketball Recap: Scott Takes a Loss

After flying high against Roane County on Thursday, Scott came back down to earth. The Skyhawks lost 65-44 to the Wayne Pioneers on Monday. The Skyhawks have struggled against the Pioneers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Scott lost, don't look at Colin Williamson. Despite the final result, he shot 71% from the field on his way to 14 points. Williamson is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played. Jace Watts was another key player, going 6-for-12 to rack up 14 points.

Wayne got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Colton Preece out in front who shot 53% from the field en route to 18 points. Those 18 points gave Preece a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Heck, who went 7-for-11 on his way to 15 points.

Scott's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Wayne, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-8.

Scott has already played their next matchup, a 50-47 defeat against Westside on the 10th. As for Wayne, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-59 win against Logan on the 12th.
