Basketball Recap: Omaha South Takes a Loss

Omaha South was the 72-38 winner over Buena Vista when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Omaha South Packers fell 81-70 to the Buena Vista Bison on Monday. The Packers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Loss or not, Omaha South got some senior leadership from Lou Hodoly and Mar Cantu. Hodoly went 10 of 19 on his way to 25 points and three steals, while Cantu almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Drake, who posted five points.

Even though they lost, Omaha South was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Brandon Jarmon went supernova for Buena Vista, going 13 of 22 on his way to 39 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of LC Doss, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 assists.

Omaha South now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Buena Vista, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Omaha South wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, an 85-46 win against Bryan on the 11th. As for Buena Vista, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-53 defeat against Benson on the 11th.
