Basketball Recap: Glenbard West's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Saturday

Glenbard West won the last time they faced St. Francis and things went their way on Saturday too. The Glenbard West Hilltoppers walked away with a 54-43 victory over the St. Francis Spartans. Given the Hilltoppers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Spartans are ranked 315th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mia Quaranta, who posted 13 points and seven boards. That's the most rebounds Quaranta has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Austin, who went 6 of 14 en route to 17 points.

Glenbard West's record is now 17-11. As for St. Francis, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-18.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glenbard West will venture away from home to face off against Lyons at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Francis, they will head out on the road to take on Trinity at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
