Softball Recap: Greater Nanticoke Area Comes Up Short

Greater Nanticoke Area had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-15 to make it five. They lost 10-0 to the Wyoming Area Warriors. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Trojans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Wyoming Area, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-8 record. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.

For Wyoming Area's part, Alexa Gasek made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Gasek has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Addison Gaylord was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaia Brown, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Coming up, Greater Nanticoke Area will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Elk Lake at 6:30 p.m. The Warriors will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Wyoming Area, they are taking a road trip to square off against Old Forge at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
