Basketball Game Preview: Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs vs. McConnellsburg Spartans

The Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs will head out to take on the McConnellsburg Spartans at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Claysburg-Kimmel will bounce into Friday's game after beating Bellwood-Antis, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Claysburg-Kimmel sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 60-57 victory over Bellwood-Antis on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since December 16, 2023.

Meanwhile, McConnellsburg waltzed into their contest on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victor by a 54-31 margin over the Flames. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 21 points or more this season.

McConnellsburg's win came from a few key players Claysburg-Kimmel will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Hoyt Glenn, who went 8 of 14 en route to 22 points along with seven blocks and five assists. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Ramsey, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and eight blocks.

McConnellsburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Claysburg-Kimmel's victory bumped their record up to 2-7. As for McConnellsburg, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Claysburg-Kimmel suffered a grim 66-42 defeat to McConnellsburg in their previous meeting back in January.
