Softball Recap: Seneca Valley's Undefeated Season over After Ten Games

After flying high against Canon-McMillan on Wednesday, Seneca Valley came back down to earth. The Raiders fell just short of the Pine-Richland Rams by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. Raiders fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Rams since on Saturday.

Lexie Hames was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 19 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Hames wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Emry Rice, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Having lost for the first time this season, Seneca Valley fell to 9-1. As for Pine-Richland, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Seneca Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-0 victory against Woodland Hills on the 14th. As for Pine-Richland, they have also already played their next match, a 19-6 win against Butler on the 14th.
