Preview: Maplesville Red Devils vs. Loachapoka Indians
The Maplesville Red Devils just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Loachapoka Indians at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Maplesville posted their biggest victory yet this season on Monday. They blew past Verbena 57-17 at home. Maplesville has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 20 points or more this season.
Maplesville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nehemiah McCary, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. McCary is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Wilson, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Loachapoka had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 49-34 victory over Billingsley.
Maplesville's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. As for Loachapoka, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.
Maplesville didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Loachapoka in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 43-38 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Maplesville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
