Baseball Recap: Heritage Comes Up Short

Heritage lost against Rock Canyon back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Eagles fell 12-9 to the Jaguars. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mason VanWyk made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Heritage's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-9 when he doesn't). James Long was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Rock Canyon, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heritage will square off against Chaparral at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolverines will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Rock Canyon, they will take on Mountain Vista at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Jaguars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
