Preview: Rangeview Raiders vs. Hinkley Thunderbirds
Rangeview is 9-0 against Hinkley since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Rangeview Raiders will look to defend their home court against the Hinkley Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m.
Last Friday, Rangeview came up short against Vista PEAK Prep and fell 47-40. While losing is never fun, Rangeview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Vista PEAK Prep is ranked 16th).
Kenny Black-Knox put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Allen Ervin was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Meanwhile, Hinkley scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on Kennedy with a sharp 79-55 win. That looming 79-55 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Hinkley yet this season.
Rangeview has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Hinkley, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-8.
Everything came up roses for Rangeview against Hinkley in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 85-29 win. Will Rangeview repeat their success, or does Hinkley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
