Basketball Game Preview: Mariner Marauders vs. Cascade Bruins

The Mariner Marauders will head out to challenge the Cascade Bruins at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Mariner is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They took a blow against Arlington, falling 98-63. While losing is never fun, the Marauders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Eagles are ranked 20th).

Meanwhile, Cascade came up short against Jackson on Tuesday and fell 67-60. The Bruins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cascade's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Mariner, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Mariner took a serious blow against Cascade when the teams last played back in November of 2023, falling 52-24. Can Mariner avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
