Pope John Paul II proved they can win big  last Wednesday (they won by ten) and  on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Archbishop Carroll Patriots  4-3. The  victory was nothing new for Pope John Paul II as they're now sitting on three straight.
 Lexi DiBricida spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Abby Simmers, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-4. She is  on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as she's  now  snagged  at least one in each of the last five games she's  played.  Molly Houchins was another key player,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Pope John Paul II's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Archbishop Carroll, their defeat  ended  a  seven-game streak of wins at home  dating back to last season and  dropped them to 1-2.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pope John Paul II will venture away from home to  square off against Pottstown  at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.75  runs per game on average), something Pope John Paul II will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Archbishop Carroll, they will take on St. Hubert Catholic for Girls at 3:45  p.m.  on Tuesday.
