Softball Recap: Summit Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Summit came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the San Gorgonio Spartans 20-2. The game marked the SkyHawks' most dominant win of the season.

Desi Varerla looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Summit got a massive performance out of Isabella Smith, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Arianna Munoz, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Summit was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .314 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Summit's record is now 11-8. As for San Gorgonio, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10-1 record this season.

Summit will face off against Grand Terrace at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Titans' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the SkyHawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for San Gorgonio, they will square off against Eisenhower at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
