Owen J. Roberts faced Perkiomen Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 3-1. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Maddie Reed put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple.

Reed wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Amelia Atkins, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Owen J. Roberts' loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Perkiomen Valley, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 15-2.

Coming up, Owen J. Roberts will head out on the road to square off against Avon Grove at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 2.7, the Red Devils 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Perkiomen Valley, they will challenge Methacton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
