Basketball Game Preview: Sheridan Blackhawks vs. Waldron Mohawks

The Sheridan Blackhawks will venture away from home to challenge the Waldron Mohawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sheridan knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 games -- so hopefully Waldron likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Sheridan humbled Edinburgh with a 77-44 victory. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-18.

Sheridan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caleb Wright, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine assists. Wright's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Page, who en route to 19 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Waldron didn't have quite enough to beat Liberty Christian on Friday and fell 55-52. The Mohawks have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Sheridan will have to contain Lucas Shaw as he made an impact in Waldron's last game. He to rack up 18 points. Shaw has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Max Jones was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

Sheridan is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That lines up perfectly with their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points over those games. Waldron's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.

Sheridan skirted past Waldron 59-56 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Shaw, who dropped a double-double with 28 points and ten rebounds.
