It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Hayfield ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Mount Vernon Majors 3-2. The victory was nothing new for the Hawks as they're now sitting on seven straight.

Noah Laster looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ethan Tourne was excellent, earning two runs and three stolen bases. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Bueno, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Hayfield's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Vernon, with the defeat, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-5.

Hayfield has already played their next matchup, a 16-0 win against Lewis on the 19th. As for Mount Vernon, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-5 victory against Justice on the 15th.
