Baseball Recap: Tooele Drops Season-High Score on Hillcrest

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tooele). They were the clear victors by a 21-2 margin over the Hillcrest Huskies on Tuesday. The Buffaloes have beaten the Huskies the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Huskies has come to flipping the script.

Carson Freeman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Connor Higgins was incredible, firing off two home runs, nine RBI, and two doubles while going 5-for-6. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Matthew Barnard, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Higgins wasn't the only one making solid contact: Tooele kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive matchups.

Tooele's win bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Hillcrest, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Tooele will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Huskies: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
