Volleyball Recap: Porter Ridge Takes a Loss

Porter Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Cuthbertson Cavaliers, falling 3-0. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cavaliers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Porter Ridge was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-9, 25-16.

Brandon Tuliano paced Porter Ridge's offense, picking up five kills. Tuliano got some help from Mung Khai and his two assists. Tuliano was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.

Porter Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Cuthbertson, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Porter Ridge is set to face off against their familiar foe Weddington at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Cuthbertson will take on rival Sun Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. This will be Cuthbertson's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
