Softball Recap: Blacksburg's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Blacksburg's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Patrick Henry Patriots 16-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bruins as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Clara McMahon made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Keely Semtner was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Sullivan Shealor was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and one RBI.

Blacksburg's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Patrick Henry, they dropped their record down to 1-16 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Blacksburg will host William Byrd at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Terriers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Bruins surely won't give up without a fight. As for Patrick Henry, they will venture away from home to take on Fleming at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots are facing the Colonels at the right time seeing as the Colonels are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
