Northwest Crossroads recap Oct. 16, 2012
Ernest Carter of Munster ran for the longest rushing play in Northwest Crossroads this season against Kankakee Valley last week. Carter ran for 80 yards on the play and finished with 190 on the day as his team fell to the Kougars.
Hobart extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Highland, 50-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Brickies.
Andrew Barras put up the best numbers through the air as Hobart defeated the Trojans. He finished with four completions for 51 yards and one touchdown. Barras' favorite target this week was Drey Devereaux, who caught two passes for 41 yards.
C.j. Scott was the best wideout in the league this week as Munster fell to Kankakee Valley. Scott tallied three receptions for 63 yards. Scott Shaner helped Munster's passing attack out by catching three balls for 57 yards.
Ryan Turley's team's Barras and Devereaux have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Northwest Crossroads in both passing and receiving yards. Barras has thrown for 960 yards this season, while Devereaux, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has 14 catches for 272 yards. Carter from Leroy Marsh's team leads the league in rushing with 646 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Brad Stewart's team takes on the Brickies. The Kougars are currently in first, while Hobart is in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Kankakee Valley takes on the Brickies. The Kougars have allowed 178 points this season, while Hobart has given up 170. Kankakee Valley allowed 21 points last week as it beat the Mustangs.
Andrean and Lowell played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Andrean eventually emerging with a 20-19 victory.
