Varela lost against Southwest back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result  on Tuesday. The Varela Vipers were just a bucket shy of victory  and fell  52-51 to the Southwest Eagles. The Vipers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
 Varela's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Alex Perez, who  almost  dropped  a double-double on 16 points and nine  rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of  Christian Marquez, who  went 6 for 7  on his way to 15  points.
Varela's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Southwest, they pushed their record up to 8-8 with the  victory, which was their fifth straight  at home.
 Varela wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next  match,  a  65-31  win against MAST Academy on the 16th. Southwest has also already played their next  game (against Coral Reef), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
