Softball Game Preview: Thousand Oaks Lancers vs. Agoura Chargers

Thousand Oaks hasn't had much luck against Agoura recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Lancers will challenge the Chargers at 3:30 p.m. Thousand Oaks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Agoura's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Tuesday, Thousand Oaks needed a bit of extra time to put away Westlake. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Warriors 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lancers.

Thousand Oaks saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Jauregui, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Agoura's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 14-3 to Oaks Christian. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Chargers have suffered against the Lions since April 7, 2022.

Thousand Oaks' win bumped their record up to 18-6-1. As for Agoura, their loss dropped their record down to 14-11.

Agoura's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Thousand Oaks has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Agoura, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Thousand Oaks keep running through batters, or will the Chargers buck the trend?

Thousand Oaks was able to grind out a solid victory over Agoura in their previous meeting back in March, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
