Basketball Recap: Winside Takes a Loss

After flying high against Randolph on Monday, Winside came back down to earth. The Winside Wildcats were dealt a 60-30 loss at the hands of the Archangels Catholic Defenders on Tuesday. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.

Despite the defeat, Winside had strong showings from Ellie Topp, who posted 14 points and five rebounds, and Hadleigh Schutt, who earned 11 points and three steals. Schutt is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Even though they lost, Winside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Winside dropped their record down to 7-18 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Archangels Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

As of now, neither Winside nor Archangels Catholic have any future games scheduled.
