Basketball Game Preview: St. Mary's Lancers vs. Canisius Crusaders

St. Mary is 0-10 against Canisius since February of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The St. Mary's Lancers are taking a road trip to challenge the Canisius Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. St. Mary's has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

St. Mary's will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating St. Francis, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. St. Mary's snuck past St. Francis with a 73-67 victory on Monday.

Meanwhile, Canisius came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points) and they left with even more momentum. They really took it to the Pioneers for the full four quarters, racking up a 79-47 win. The Crusaders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 20 points or more this season.

Canisius pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.1 points per game. As for St. Mary's, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-11.

St. Mary's might still be hurting after the 66-41 loss they got from Canisius in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Canisius' Patrick Cullinan, who went 11 for 18 on his way to 24 points.
