Basketball Recap: Roosevelt Falls to Ida Crown Jewish Academy in First Game of Season

Roosevelt unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Ida Crown Jewish Academy Aces on Monday, falling 54-33. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Roosevelt's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Melvin Steward, who posted 22 points, and Cameron Ware, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 rebounds.

Ida Crown Jewish Academy has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Roosevelt and Ida Crown Jewish Academy will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Rough Riders will challenge rival Marine Leadership Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Ida Crown Jewish Academy is set to square off against their familiar foe Cristo Rey Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th.
